For the last 20 years the University of Strathclyde Motorsport team has been designing, manufacturing, marketing and racing a single-seat race car at international Formula Student Events. To celebrate our 20th year of competing in Formula Student the team will not only be designing and racing a combustion car at competition but also beginning a new chapter in the teams history with the start of research and development into EV.
As a student-led team from across Strathclyde's faculties, we pride ourselves on developing new designs with accomplishing the vast majority of manufacturing in-house. This requires devotion and perseverance of our team members as many devote their free time to the team on top of their University studies.
What is Formula Student?
Formula Student is an international engineering design competition, where student led teams design, manufacture, market and race single-seater race car. Teams cars are not only judged on their racing performance during dynamic events, but also on component design, manufacturing quality, component documentation, environmental impact and the effectiveness of marketing to the race car market.
The team has consistently been competing at Formula Student events for the last 20 years, attending events such as Formula Student UK, Formula Student Germany and Formula Student Netherlands
